I taped around the border of the tray and gave it a light coat of paint.
Contrary to what I was told on the phone, our local JoAnn's does not carry Plaid Pink chalk board paint. They do have black spray...and I really like spray paint. So easy.
The finished product after three coats of paint.
The paint has to cure 24 hours before you can use it as a chalk board.

It looks fantastic! And I just found an old tray in my mother's basement...wonder if she'd let me have it? ;D
